🚗 More Car Owners Are Adding “Natural Disaster Coverage”
In the past, many people used to think:
“Flooding won’t happen in my area.”
But in recent years, the weather pattern has completely changed.
Here’s what you need to know 👇
📌 1. Engine water damage usually means full engine replacement
Many people assume drying and minor repairs are enough.
In reality, once water enters the engine, most workshops will recommend replacing the entire engine — costing thousands to tens of thousands.
📌 2. Basement and parking floods are covered too
If your car is flooded while parked in a condominium or shopping mall due to heavy rain, you can still claim — as long as you have Special Perils coverage.
📌 3. It is NOT automatically included in all car insurance
Many insurers now include “All Drivers” by default, but Special Perils must usually be added separately.
📌 4. The cost is lower than most people expect
With just RM50–RM150 per year, you can protect your car from being destroyed by a single heavy downpour.
Malaysia experiences 2–3 major heavy-rain cycles every year, and we are currently in the peak season.
